ISO 17025 is the main ISO accreditation standard used by testing and calibration laboratories in most countries. It is the standard for which most labs must hold accreditation to be deemed technically competent. A prerequisite for a laboratory is to have a documented quality management system that follows the outline of the ISO/IEC 17025 standard. The accrediting body is the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), a body composed of representatives from several national standards organizations and works in over 160 countries.
MRT Laboratories earned its ISO 17025 accreditation in 2008 and maintains it to date. While MRT has from its founding in 2000 been very disciplined in documenting and following the procedures in performing each of its tests, the laboratory has benefited from the rigors of ISO accreditation. Its quality management system meets all ISO requirements and is central to assuring all technicians are well trained and follow documented procedures to the letter. Instruments are regularly calibrated, in some cases daily, as required by 17025. Any concerns expressed by auditors are promptly addressed and any customer complaints are also documented and addressed. The results of the test package and conclusions for each sample processed by MRT go through a review process to catch any strange results that might call for retesting that sample. Trusting the analysis which gives insights into the condition of your critical equipment to an ISO 17025 certified laboratory gives the customer an extra measure of assurance of accuracy and reliability of the results.
